Action heats up after rain delay

2019-05-01 06:00

ALTHOUGH last week Wednesday’s rains were much needed in our drought-stricken area, they brought about waterlogged fields which caused the postponement of all PELFA Old Buck Gin Legends League games.

Two games were moved to last Friday night. In Tier A, Central Acemates beat African Leopards 3-1. Acemates led in the first half with a goal scored by Lwazi Sahula.

In the second half, Acemates’ second goal was scored by Malibongwe Sobikwa and the third by Sahula.

African Leopards’ goal was scored by Loyiso Ntombana, in the last 10 minutes of the game, from a direct free kick.

The Tier B game saw Westpark get an easy 3-1 win over Mahle Old Grey B.

For Westpark Lionel Terblanche scored two goals and Carwyn Thomson netted one. Jason Aitken replied for Mahle Old Grey. Early seasonal form in Tier A have Central Acemates, Callies and Mahle Old Grey A unbeaten.

Westpark, NMBM, PE City and Malabar Legends are unbeaten in Tier B.

Westpark are the favourites to win the league.

Tonight, May 1, Callies will face Kuyga Masters and a win for Callies is predicted.

Fairview Rovers will play Priory Shamrocks A, with a draw predicted.

African Leopards and Mahle Old Grey lock horns on the Oval, and Mahle Old Grey should maintain their winning run.

In the game between Westpark and Malabar Legends, it’s hard to predict a winner, but Westpark are the favourites.

The same can be said about the game between PE City and NMBM, where a draw is the most likely result.

St Albans should have the better of Mahle Old Grey B at Old Grey Sports Club.
