Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer action starting tomorrow

THOUSANDS of people participating in the annual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer will be converging at The Boardwalk from tomorrow, October 27.

While registering on the Thursday and Friday from 1pm until 7pm, participants and other members of the public will also have the option of receiving a free health screening.

Medical professionals from the Eastern Cape Department of Health will test for hypertension, diabetes, prostate cancer, blood pressure, glucose levels, tuberculosis, blood cancer and breast cancer.

Information leaflets on health issues such as tuberculosis, family planning, cervical cancer and the dangers of smoking, drugs and alcohol will also be distributed at the information kiosks.

DJs KayCee Rossouw and Charlton Tobias will be providing entertainment with the Algoa FM Vibe Mobile.

The Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer will take place on October 29 and aims at attracting thousands of participants.

Beneficiaries of the 18th annual walk are the Igazi Foundation, CANSA and CHOC.

The Big Walk will start at 8am. Marine Drive will be closed from Brookes Hill Drive to Admiralty Way from 7am to 10am.

Manual entries closed on October 24, but the online entry portal will be available until 5pm today, October 26 on

Walkers can also enter at registration on October 27 and 28 at the Boardwalk Expo Level-1.
