Amarhamba United accumulate six points in double header

2019-02-20 06:00

THE once struggling side, Amarhamba United, showed that they had gone back to the drawing board, following a string of losses in the SAFA NMB SAB Regional League, as they became the only side to collect six points in their double header on Saturday and Sunday.

Following their recent 1-1 draw with Highland Spurs, Amarhamba oozed with confidence. Amarhamba had to dig deep to secure a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over Golden Aces at Jabavu Stadium in KwaNobuhle on Saturday. That win seemed to have further motivated Amarhamba because they then hammered the gutsy Camper United 4-0 at Jabavu Stadium in KwaNobuhle on Sunday.

In other games, Highland Spurs shared a 2-2 home draw with FC Winners at Jabavu Stadium on Saturday and then went down 1-0 to their visitors, Stinging Bees, on their home turf on Sunday.

Bees shared a 2-2 draw with Sibanye at Adcock Stadium in Korsten on Saturday. After their 4-1 humiliation to Madibaz Football, Despatch Pioneers redeemed themselves after they trounced Bush Bucks 4-0 at Khayamnandi Sports in Despatch on Sunday.

Despite their 1-0 loss to Amarhamba, Golden Aces won 2-1 over Motherwell School of Excellence (MSE) at Zwide Stadium on Sunday. Major Chiefs could not win their home double header as they played to a goalless draw against Camper United on Saturday and settled for a 2-2 home draw to Roaring Tigers at Zwide Stadium on Sunday.

Roaring Tigers lost 1-0 to MSE at the Chevrolet Stadium in New Brighton on Saturday.

Motherwell Academy were held to a goalless draw by Bush Bucks at Motherwell NU 2 Stadium on Saturday, while PE Sundowns drew 0-0 with Young Teenagers at Chevrolet Stadium on Saturday.

FC Winners went down 5-2 to Young Teenagers at Mawabo Dyubhele Stadium in KwaDwesi on Sunday.

According to SAFA NMB SAB Referees Association head, Jacob Frolick, the game between Sibanye Colts and Madibaz Football at Adcock Stadium on Sunday did not take place because the assistant referees did not arrive.
