LOCAL residents and visitors will once again be entertained during the 21st instalment of the popular Annual Summer Basketball and Entertainment Series in Nelson Mandela Bay during this festive season.

According to event coordinator, Sibongile Fondini, the programme is ‘a must watch’ programme as it is a highly packed programme of summer outdoor sport featuring basketball, netball and street soccer.

Local artists will be performing live on stage to entertain the audience.

The event runs from December 16, 2016, to January 28, 2017.

The venues for the event are Kings Beach Basketball Park, KwaNobuhle, Wells Estates and Motherwell.

“The major challenge that we face is that we have no financial assistance so far. Even our municipality has not yet assisted, but we look forward to securing a sponsor so that we can turn this major important event into a resounding success," said Fondini.

“The event is an off-season programme which is aimed at providing an exciting, family-oriented line-up of entertainment and sport for both locals and visitors.

“It is a unique concept that seeks to combine various sporting codes on a single court and adds the best local artists performing. Most importantly, this programme serves as a proper tool to promote sport in general, as well as offering a wonderful opportunity to young and aspiring local artists to showcase their talents.”

Fondini stated that the audience would not pay any admission fees because the event is to keep the people, in particular the youth, together.
