2017-03-15 08:22

THE 2017 edition of the annual Victoria Park High School Soccer Challenge will be hosting 40 teams at Weinronk Sports Complex from March 18 to 20.

According to the tournament organiser, Marlon Louis, the teams hail from Nelson Mandela Bay, George, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Grahamstown and East London.

Louis said, “The school teams will be competing in three divisions which are Boys u/16, Girls u/19 and Boys u/19. The teams will be divided into groups.

“The tournament will commence in a round robin format before it heads into a knockout stage. We expect some tough competition as was the case in previous years.”

The prizes that will be up for grabs will be the winners’ trophy, as well as medals and plate and bowl trophies and a fair play award to a team in each division.

Louis also said that individual awards would include Top Goal Scorer of the tournament, Goalkeeper of the Tournament in each division, as well as the Referee, Coach and Manager of the tournament.

The tournament will kick off at the Victorian Clubhouse on March 17 at 6.30pm for 7pm.
