IT was a gruelling task for Eleven Attackers when they played to a goalless draw against AmaUnits during their SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay Masters Association League game at the Motherwell NU 6 Grounds on Sunday.

The game was exciting right from the start. Most of the action took place in the centre of the park. The game was evenly balanced with few scoring opportunities created.

The goalkeepers made some brilliant saves but were not actively busy. AmaUnits’ left wing, Anele Irie Ntile’s powerful shot was parried by Attackers goalkeeper.

Attackers’ central defender, Vumile Gomomo, managed to mark AmaUnits striker, Luzuko Dzuyi Hambaze, throughout the game.

The visitors’ striker, Vuyani Jomo Mtati, did not get good service from his midfielders.

As the time went on, each side wanted to break the ice but the goalkeepers stood their ground.

Attackers’ midfielder, Thembelani Kimsho Kondlo, delivered a powerful shot but the AmaUnits goalkeeper managed to fist it over the crossbar.

The game ended in a goalless draw with the fans giving a round of applause to the two sides for their impressive performances.

Meanwhile, it was a do-or-die situation when Villagers faced PE Eleven at Motherwell NU 6 Grounds on Sunday.

The visiting side registered their opening goal courtesy of Thamsanqa Raul Jindela.

Villagers failed to level the score after their goalkeeper, Lundi Mahobe’s penalty kick was saved by his opposite number.

Then Villagers super substitute, Thanduxolo Yebho Ntoni, scored an equalising goal from a set-piece.

The joy of Villagers’ supporters was cancelled out after Zukisani Shakes Duda came up with PE Eleven’s winning goal with the game ending in 2-1 in favour of the Port Elizabeth-based team.
