AS part of the Drama Seasons programme, The Opera House will be hosting the Standard Bank Ovation Award-winning production Flamebook, written by and starring Xolisa Ngubelanga and directed by Simphiwe Kaya.

The production opens today at 7pm with the last two performances on Saturday, the first at 2pm and the last at 7pm.

Flamebook tells the story of a young detained student leader caught up in the throes of the #FeesMustFall movement.

During his time incarcerated, he uses fire to connect the trials of #FeesMustFall with that of his father, who too was detained during the state of emergency during the apartheid era in South Africa.

Ngubelanga graduated in 2009 from Stageworld Theatre School in Port Elizabeth with a diploma in the performance arts.

He is a writer, performer and facilitator with a theatre and poetry background.

The play will take place at the Barn Theatre and tickets can be purchased for R50 per person and R20 for students and pensioners.

A cash bar will also be available at the Ideas Corner Bar (upper foyer) and the sweet counter on the ground floor.

Bookings can be arranged through Cingiwe Skosana at cingiwe.skosana@gmail.com or Nomgcobo Mkize at nomgcobomkize@gmail. com
