THE Animal Welfare Society (AWS) PE will be hosting a fun and family-oriented market day on May 4 at the Walmer Town Hall from 09:00 to 14:00.

The market is hosted in collaboration with the Re-Seconds Market, and there will be a variety of stalls and good, wholesome foods available. Event organisers are also calling on all young entrepreneurs to get creative and sell handmade goods.

Kids, aged eight and up, are encouraged to book a stall and exercise their marketing and creative skills.

There will be a colouring-in competition, jumping castle, food court and live entertainment. Local musician, Claire Venn will be there entertaining all the visitors.

AWS PE will be selling boerewors rolls and cakes and their Wagtails Charity Shop will be selling a selection of good quality second-hand books.

“Our adoption specialists will also be there with some of the shelter rescues.

“Families are encouraged to pop-in and meet some of cute dogs that are available for adoption,” said Samantha Terblanche of AWS.

“As a non-profit organisation, whose goal it is to help abandoned, unwanted or lost animals, the AWS PE hopes this market will raise the much needed funds to keep our shelter in operation. We are currently fund-raising to purchase another response vehicle so that we can service a wider community and reach the animals that cannot be brought into the shelter.”
