Battle for top spot heats up in Old Buck Gin League

THE PELFA Old Buck Gin League leaders Central Acemates made sure they stayed at the top of the log with a solid 4-1 victory over Mahle Old Grey.

Nceba Mroqoza and Khayalethu Saziwa had Acemates up 2-0 when the half-time whistle blew.

Five minutes into the second half Nceba Mroqoza got his second goal.

Jason Aitken pulled a goal back for Old Grey, netting in the 15th minute of the second half.

Luyanda Mthati scored Acemates’ fourth goal from a good midfield move.

Callies, who are trailing behind Acemates by one point, had to work hard for their 2-0 victory over Kuyga Masters.

Razeen Davids netted Callies’ first goal 23 minutes into the first half.

Then Kurt Peterson scored their second midway through the second half.

In a very high-scoring match, Fairview Rovers got the better of Shamrocks 7-4.

For Rovers, Ruaan Sauls scored a goal in the 10th minute of the game, followed by another from Wayne Schmidt in the 25th minute.

For Shamrocks, Naj Padachie pulled a goal back in the middle of the first half.

Sharief Mamoojee netted for Rovers in the 10th minute of the second half, while Tertius Afrikaner scored a brace in the 15th and 25th minutes of the second half.

Shahied Lottering and Nathan Jones added Rovers’ sixth and seventh goals. For Shamrocks, Bubble Naidoo scored 10 minutes into the second half.

Dushaan Moodaley got a penalty and Siven Naidoo scored Shamrocks’ fourth goal in the last minute of game.

African Leopards got the better of PE City 4-2 with Tabo Simane and Andile McClean scoring for Leopards in the first half.

The half-time score was 3-2 in Leopards’ favour.

Tabo Simane achieved a brace for Leopards deep in the second half.

Priory got a welcome win when they overcame NMBM 4-2.

For Priory, Deon Carolus scored two goals and Peter White and Clayton Ensal added one each.

St Albans also had a good 3-1 victory over Westpark.
