Bay prepares to host 26th annual Toy Run

2017-11-22 06:00

THE 26th annual PE Toy Run will plough back into the community once again when it kicks off on Saturday in aid of local marginalised and vulnerable children.

This year, the annual event for bikers, which is supported by corporates, sponsors, donors and the public, will be held in aid of Alabaster Community Impact Centre (Veeplaas), Khayalethu Youth Centre (Theescombe), Vistarus Play School (Sidwell), Provincial Hospital paediatric oncology unit (Mount Croix), Joubertina Primary School and Morewag Primary School (Holland Park).

Toy Run Children’s Party

The 2017 event will kick off with the Toy Run children’s party on Saturday at The Barn in Greenbushes. A total of 350 underprivileged children from various homes and schools are invited to join the party.

“We would like each child to receive a special gift and for this we need the help of sponsors,” said Charmaine and Ivan van Schalkwyk of the PE Toy Run committee.

It is R150 to sponsor each child. The organisers are looking to improve on the amount of R175 000 that was raised last year.

“It is a heart-warming experience to be involved with these special children even if it is only for a day, to see the joy in their faces when opening their presents and enjoying all the activities of the day.”

To sponsor a child, contact Charmaine on 083 491 1346 or Ivan on 083 400 5869.
