Beach Camp Festival this Saturday at Mangold’s Pool

2018-11-21 06:02

THE Corona Beach Camp Festival kicks off the Eastern Cape summer season at Mangold’s Pool in Schoenmakerskop, on Saturday, November 24.

The event is the first family festival of its kind, hosted by the organisers of Baakens Food Truck Funday and is promised to be one filled with good times.

Families and friends can enjoy a day out along the coast with many activities on offer, from a trail run organised by Live Adventure, yoga with Wine Down, the Secret Sunrise dance, snorkeling tours with Pro Dive, Pop-up Cinema, helicopter flips with Helicopter Pilot Training Centre and E’scape Airtours and much more.

These tickets are sold separately to general festival tickets.

According to Tayla Foong, co-organiser of the event, Mangold’s Pool is one of the oldest camping grounds in PE, famous for its really big tidal pool. “Not many people know about this stunning venue, tucked away in the suburb of Schoenmakerskop.

“The venue has campsites, chalets and tide pools to swim and snorkel in.

“It is situated along Marine Drive and is honestly a gem,” said Foong.

The Baakens Food Trucks will roll in with the very best street food lineup, including foods of the world; from gourmet burgers, artisanal pizza and Asian dimsum to Indian cuisine, vegan meals and dessert of course. There will also be a craft market curated by WERK, with local artists and craftsman showcasing their work.

The Corona beach bar will provide a host of beverages throughout the day.

On the music front, there will be two different stages, one at the tidal pool and the other, being the main stage with performances by Sham De Funk, Wesley Keet, Thoko, the Lawson Brown Steel Band and Jason Gladwin, to name a few.

“We have selected a 100% local line-up to show that we are putting together more than a music festival.

“We want to create a hype around all things local, and show off the talents of the Eastern Cape in a truly unique and magical setting,” said Foong.

Festival goers are invited to bring sunblock, camp chairs, picnic blankets, umbrellas and pool floaties.

Tickets are available at R100 for adults and R30 for children from Pro Dive in Walmer, La Boca in Central, Foong’s in Baakens Valley and at Mangold’s Pool, online tickets can be bought at
