Belly dancers win medals at national competition

Troupe members from Zahra’s Oriental Dance School in Port Elizabeth journeyed to Johannesburg for the Miss Belly Dance South Africa Competition held at the Roodepoort Theatre on August 9, 2019.

The competition, hosted by Goddess Divine Productions and featuring judges from national and international schools of dance, saw Karla Bouwer receive first place in her category for her soloist piece.

Jessica Perelson’s choreography earned the group a silver medal (second place) in the Modern Egyptian Category for groups, while Melanie Wallis earned a silver medal for her solo in the modern Egyptian category for soloists.
