Blaahs Society celebrates 25 years

2018-09-19 06:00

THE Blaahs Society in Nelson Mandela Bay has been of service to the community of the Bay for over two decades.

The society which has its sister branches in Cape Town, Bloemfontein and Kimberley has a dedicated membership of nine families residing in different areas in the Bay – each of these individuals seek to develop the community at large in both social and economical aspects.

“The Blaahs society convenes on selflessness with the foundation of our vision being the contribution to a better community,” said Bantu Mdyogolo who is the Public Relations Officer

The society has over the years been involved in assisting the youth with tertiary applications, assisting the unemployed with employment opportunities and further encouraging family values among children and adults.

“The Blaahs Society works on a membership basis where the members contribute monthly to the organisation to keep it afloat.

“When we require donations we ask organisations to contribute in the form of what the organisation’s product and services offer,” continued Mdyogolo.

The club has adopted the Charles Duna Primary School in New Brighton and they assist the Red Cross organisation by donating blankets in winter to those who are homeless.

The Blaahs Society is looking forward to celebrating its 25th anniversary this weekend at a celebration banquet at the Nangoza Jebe Hall in New Brighton.

The banquet will feature the renowned South African actress Nomhle Nkonyeni as the guest speaker.

The celebration banquet will start at 16:00.

Tickets cost R100 for singles and R150 for couples.
