Callies take top spot in legends league Tier A

LAST week saw only four PELFA Old Buck Gin Legends League games taking place.

In Tier A, Callies overcame Kuyga Masters 3-1. Callies led 2-0 at half-time, with goals by Kurt Petersen and Shane Jenneker. Kuyga made it 2-1 in the second half and Shane Jenneker completed his brace with five minutes to go.

Fairview Rovers got the better of Priory Shamrocks A by four goals to one. For Fairview Rovers, Senator Julies converted a penalty 10 minutes into the game. Tertius Afrikaner added Rovers’ second goal 25 minutes into the second half and Sharief Mamoojee helped himself to a brace in the second half. For Priory Shamocks A, Lyle Kleinbooi scored a few minutes into the second half.

In Tier B, Malabar Legends outplayed Westpark 3-1. Malabar Legends’ first goal was scored by Zayaan Verrie, with Arthur Chan King equalising for Westpark.

Malabar’s second goal came from Kumarin Naidoo and the third was a scorcher of a pile driver by Kishaun Pather 10 minutes before full time.

NMBM and PE City played out a 3-3 draw.

For NMBM, Mfundo Gqirhana scored a penalty, Shaun Sokiya scored just before the end of the first half and then completed his brace deep into the second half.

Callies now top the log of Tier A on 21 points after nine games, with Fairview Rovers second on 20 points after 10 games.

Malabar Legends head Tier B log on 18 points after nine games, followed by St Albans in second spot on 16 points.
