CAMPER United played their hearts out when they shared a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Highland Spurs in their SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay SAB Regional League at Motherwell NU 9 Stadium on Saturday.

Both sides squandered fine opportunities in the first half of the match. The visiting side could have registered their opening goal early on, but Spurs striker Tshepo Moshoeshoe’s shot was saved by Camper’s goalkeeper, Mbonisi Mbele.

Spurs’ goalkeeper, Wandisile Tsenene, showed his class when he denied Camper’s skipper, Siyabulela “Chippa” Tsewana, a goal-scoring opportunity from close range.

The KwaNobuhle lads showed that they were not interested in a goalless draw after Moshoeshoe blasted his shot to Mbele, who fisted it over the goals. Following a loss of concentration in the Camper’s defence, Moshoeshoe scored an easy goal.

Camper skipper Tsewana unleashed a powerful volley that was parried by Tsenene.

Camper then equalised through a header by the unmarked defender, Siphesihle Jiji Mkokeli, to make the final score 1-1.
