SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay SAB Regional League side, Camper United, claimed a 2-1 victory over Highlands Spurs in the final of the Shining Stars FC Tournament, which took place at the Motherwell NU 11 Stadium recently.The tournament, which was played in a straight knockout format, attracted 15 clubs, along with their u/13 and u/15 teams. In the u/13 finals, Royal Bucks claimed a floating trophy and 18 gold medals, while Channel Porto went home with 18 silver medals after their game ended 1-0 in favour of Bucks. Liverpool, who defeated Real Strikers 5-3 on penalties following their full-time 1-1 tie, were crowned the u/15 champions. The finals between Camper and Spurs produced some fireworks with Camper United winning 2-1. Skipper Siyabulela Chippa Tsewana came up with Camper’s opening goal, while Spurs midfielder Mzuvukile Gqalane Arie replied with an equaliser. Camper’s late winning goal was banged in by Ndyebo Mazantsi.Camper scooped a first prize of R2 000, a floating trophy and 22 gold medals, while Spurs were awarded R800 and 22 silver medals. Shining Stars secretary, Sandile Fina, thanked all the clubs that took part in their tournament. “I would like to express my gratitude to all teams. The LOCs also made our work easy. The fans and match officials contributed tremendously,” Fina said.
