HUNDREDS of soccer supporters are expected to converge on the Dave Weinronk Sports Complex at Victoria Park High School to watch the VP Soccer Challenge from Friday, March 15 to Sunday, March 17.

According to one of the tournament organisers, Marlon Louis, schools from the Western Cape, as well as local schools, will be in action at the three-day big showdown.

Louis stated that the high schools from the Western Cape were Milnerton High School, Fairmont High School from Cape Town and George Academy from George.

Other regions in the Eastern Cape will be represented by St Andrews, Dale College and Hudson Park.

Local high schools participating are hosts VP, Vulumzi, Lawson Brown, Sanctor, Arcadia, Chapman, Urban Academy, Alexander Road and Bethelsdorp.

The tournament will be played by boys’ u/16 teams, girls’ u/19 teams and boys’ u/19 boys teams.

The first round of the tournament will be played in a round robin format, while the second round will be a knockout stage.

Louis also said there would be fantastic prizes for the teams and individuals who showcase their talents.

The reigning champion teams, Chapman boys’ u/16, Bethelsdorp girls’ u/19 and VP boys’ u/19 teams are expected to take up again where they left off last year.
