EASTERN Cape-based Premier Soccer League side, Chippa United Football Club, has launched its own magazine programme on pay TV station SuperSport.

The team’s executive chairperson, Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi, made the announcement last week with the club joining other elite football brands in the country such as Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, who already have their own shows.

An overjoyed Mpengesi said the initiative was part of a strategy to take the Chippa United brand to the next level.

“This is a proud moment for the football club and we are happy to share this moment with our faithful supporters,” said an excited Mpengesi.

“Our strategy is clear: to become one of the most recognisable sporting brands in South Africa and beyond its borders.

“We are working hard on and off the field to take the Chippa United brand to the next level. The magazine show will further give us an opportunity to market this young brand,” continued Mpengesi.

Discussing the content, Mpengesi said, “This club has a unique history and the show will reflect where the club comes from.

“The past eight years have been amazing and now it’s time to tell our story through this magazine show.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank my management team and everyone at the club for their efforts in putting this show together.

“I also want to send a word of gratitude to the producers of the show, TK Vision, for their commitment and patience.”

Chippa United TV will provide fans with exclusive club content with management, technical team, staff and give a glimpse into the lives of the players.

The show will be aired on SuperSport 4, at 8pm, on every third Thursday of the month.
