Christmas in Mt Pleasant

2016-11-30 06:00

THE Community of Mount Pleasant, headed by Michael and Sheroda Hutchinson, will be hosting a Christmas in Mount Pleasant event on December 10.

Everyone is welcome to join in the festivities, which will include singing Christmas carols, the reading of a Christmas story and lighting the five-metre tall Christmas tree, all while raging fires add to the festive atmosphere.

The festivities will start at 4pm and will be held at the park in Gladys Road, Mount Pleasant.

Santa will also make his grand entrance, arriving to hand out gifts to the kids (pre-supplied by parents).

The event coordinators would like everyone attending to bring a handmade ornament or tag to hang on the majestic tree.

“As this is a non-profit event, we are asking the community and businesses for their support in donating or sponsoring this event. All donations received will be used for the event and any leftovers will be donated to a selection of charities,” said Michael Hutchinson.

Some of the things they need to make the dream event a reality include tree decorations, various equipment, food and drinks (no alcohol). Those attending will need to bring their own chairs, blankets and cups for drinks.

They are also looking for a few volunteers to lend a hand in setting things up and cleaning up afterwards.

There will be a host of different foods and drinks for sale as well as party packs for the kids. The young ones will also be able to play on the jumping castles and other activities.
