ANOTHER year has passed – in some ways too quickly and in other ways too slowly.

The Express family shared in a number of highs and lows – fortunately more highs than lows.

Standing out among the lows is the sadness over the sudden loss of a dear colleague and friend, Greg Nota, news editor of the Mthatha Express, Isolomzi Express and UvoLwethu Express newspapers. He died after a short illness at the beginning of October.

Among the highs for the team this year, was the increase in distrubution of PE Express to 100 000 copies. The fact that the newspaper is expanding and that Media24 is investing in a newspaper, while print media is increasingly under pressure globally, is testimony to the popularity and success of PE Express, which has been a favourite read in people’s homes since November 1983 – more than 32 years.

Even more testimony to the success of EP Media in the Eastern Cape is the fact that it will be expanding its footprint even further into the province with the launch of a brand-new free local newspaper, Queenstown Express, on February 4, 2016.

A total of 20 000 copies of the Queenstown Express will be distributed on Thursdays.

To gear up and recharge our batteries for the exciting times that lie ahead in 2016, the Express team will be going on a well-deserved break for the festive season and this is the last edition for this year.

We wish our readers and advertisers a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year. May the blessings be in those that are standing with you around the Christmas tree, rather than what is under it.

We will be back on January 13, 2016.
