THE Parkside Church of the Nazarene will host a men’s breakfast and conference on Saturday to address men from all walks of life on the topic “Father the Fatherless”.

The guest speaker will be Johan Vos, who originally lived in the Netherlands before moving to Jeffreys Bay with his family in 2003.

They started a preschool in 2005 and have since built many foster care homes for children living with HIV/Aids.

They are also in the process of setting up a college to advance education among the underprivileged.

According to Pastor Reuben Africa, the senior pastor at the Parkside Church of the Nazarene, the church is also actively involved in troubled communities such as Helenvale and other parts of the northern areas.

“Every Sunday we transport children from specifically the Helenvale area and teach them the Word and feed them. We also have bi-weekly outreach programmes to inmates at St Albans as a holistic approach to curb the scourge of gangsterism and other social evils that negatively impact our communities.

“Twice a week we address the staff and police officers of the Gelvandale SAPS to encourage them in carrying out their difficult duties with utmost dedication,” he said.

The men of the church gather every Saturday morning to pray for Port Elizabeth.

They are hosting the men’s breakfast and conference in an effort to bring the men of Port Elizabeth together to address a number of complex social needs that people experience daily.

The men’s breakfast and conference will take place on Saturday at the Parkside Church of the Nazarene at 8:30am.

Tickets at R100 per person are available from Ps Letitia Reasner on 078 999 4393.
