Con.ect - Port Elizabeth Geek Convention

2016-03-23 06:00

ABOUT 1 000 people are expected to attend Con.ect 2016 which will take place on July 30 and 31 at the NMMU Vodacom Indoor Sport Centre.

Con.ect is a Port Elizabeth- based NPC, and hosts a yearly convention which brings together aficionados and lovers of geek and popular culture, in order to celebrate and allow for interaction among these various categories.

The aim of the convention is to create a space in which like-minded people can gather with one another and share their passions, and to create a space where these genres can grow to a degree that will allow Port Elizabeth to become a focal point of popular culture within the country.

Con.ect was created in 2014 by Jessi Ochse and Kayleigh Moss from Resonance Cosplay in Port Elizabeth in order to test the waters.

The response was greater than expected and Con.ect was re-launched at a larger venue in 2015 to cater for pop culture fans who wished to attend the convention.
