THEY’RE lekker fun, making you laugh, but also making you weep. They are the beautifully crafted stories of South Africans by South Africans this Heritage month at Ster-Kinekor Cinemas.

Dive into the diverse pot of South African stories and enjoy local film content in September as Ster-Kinekor hosts the Heritage film festival every Thursday at select Ster-Kinekor cinemas.

Delve into the dark side of our rainbow nation and have a front row seat of the poverty-stricken community of the Cape flats, troubled by drugs and the gangsterism culture. Ellen which kickstarted the film festival early this September takes one on a journey of a mother and son’s relationship which is strained due to the destructive company he keeps that leads to an irrepressible drug addiction. Ellen is available nationwide. Bookings are now open.

Heritage Month continues with Table Manners on September 13; a heart-warming story of a woman challenged to stay afloat despite her failing relationship and her family’s debt issues. Table Manners releases September 28 nationally.

Also showing is The Recce, an edge-of-your-seat action title. The Recce releases on September 28 nationally.

On a lighter note of romance, drama and laughter is Baby Mamas which has a special screening on September 27.

Featuring the best of local talent such as Salamina Moses, Thembisa Mdoda and Dineo Ranaka, Baby Mamas is a comedy drama which revolves around the daily living of women and their real-life baby mama dramas. Baby Mamas releases October 12.
