FOLLOWING their long absence from the Motherwell Football Association (MOFA) Premier League, Eleven Stars managed to book their return for next season, after lifting the MOFA First Division League trophy, when they won their last game of the season at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium on Saturday.Stars managed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Scorpions in their tough encounter. Stars ended the season with 17 wins, two draws and two losses out of their 21 outings. They scored 55 goals, conceding only 15 goals. Their goal difference was an impressive 40. United FC narrowly secured the second promotion spot to move up to the MOFA Premier League because they collected 50 points, the same amount as their rivals, Young Killers. United’s 31 goal difference was three goals better than Killers’ 28, which helped them secure second position on the log. In their final game of the season, Killers lost 2-1 to Young Tigers, which cost them the chance of finishing second. Meanwhile United overcame Channel Porto FC 2-0 in their last game of the season, which put them level on points with Killers and gained them promotion to the top league.Lion City had also been in contention for a promotion place, but fell short of the points they needed after playing to a number of draws when they needed victories. They defeated Motherwell United 2-0 in their last game. City finished in fourth place on the league table.
