MTHATHA Express, sister publication of Port Elizabeth Express, was announced the publication of the year at the EP Media awards dinner that was held in Port Elizabeth on Friday evening.

The annual awards dinner is held to honour the achievers in the group for their contribution in the past financial year.

EP Media is a division of Media24, that publishes eight free local newspapers – of which PE Express is one – across the Eastern Cape.

According to EP Media and Die Burger (Oos-Kaap) general manager Tasmia Ismail, EP Media had a phenomenal year, not just stabilising in a difficult economic climate, but managing to grow its new Queenstown Express newspaper, launching a newspaper in the Border region, the King William’s Town Express and achieving record profit numbers for EP Media.

Maro Swanepoel was announced as the Advertising Sales Representative of the Year for both PE Express and Die Burger (Oos-Kaap).

Adri van der Walt is the PE Express Runner-Up Advertising Sales Representative of the Year.

Other awards handed over were, among others to Teresa Renken (Admin Award), Michael Healy (Star of the Year) as voted for by the staff and Nicolette Thomas for Service Excellence in Marketing.
