CELMA Swart, a 14-year-old learner at Collegiate High School, recently represented the Eastern Cape at the South African Youth Dressage Championships which took place at Kyalami Park Club in Johannesburg.

Swart’s outstanding results included placing sixth in the jumping category with a height of 90cm and obtaining first and third place in the novice tests of the dressage category, second place in the dressage championship class and first place in the dressage novice freestyle class.

Swart and her pony, Dream Runner, also received the award for the best novice pony rider in dressage after scoring the highest points in four different classes, as well as a national award after winning the National Dressage Challenge.

In the equitation category, she obtained third place in the intermediate class and in the showing category, she was placed second.

The Eastern Cape Challenge Showing Team was the overall winner of the national team competition. Swart and Dream Runner also received four awards at the Port Elizabeth Riding Club’s annual awards ceremony, namely the most improved children’s showing, children’s novice dressage, novice pony rider of the year and PERC children’s combination of the year trophies.
