Event to celebrate 125 years since first PE rugby Test

2016-06-22 06:00

A FUNCTION for 300 guests will be held to honour all past and present EP players and also to celebrate 125 years since the first rugby test was played at St. George’s Park in Port Elizabeth.

The EP 125 Celebrations event will take place tomorrow, Thursday, June 23, at the Bojangles Corporate Club, just 48 hours before the third test against Ireland kicks off in PE on Saturday, June 25.

The event is the brainchild of Jaco Kirsten, a past EP player and keen rugby supporter to this day. This initiative bears no connection with EPRU and is totally independent.

According to organisers, the purpose of the event is to honour EP players and to create a platform where like-minded players can socialise.

SA Rugby kicked off their national tour of the Springbok Opus, the most definitive book on the history of rugby in South Africa, and have requested to combine the Eastern Cape launch at the EP 125 Celebrations event on June 23.

Limited tickets are available at Action Sports and Footballer at R150.

The event starts at 6pm for 6:30pm and the dress code is Smart Casual.
