AN exhibition celebrating top Eastern Cape craft, Lithuba Lakho (this is your opportunity), opens this week at the Athenæum in Central.

The exhibition is an initiative of the Eastern Cape Development Corporation and the Swallows Foundation SA in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture and Mandela Bay Development Agency.

This craft competition and exhibition is jointly sponsored by the National Lotteries Distribution Trust Fund and opens tomorrow (Thursday, December 10).

Lithuba Lakho craft competition and exhibition is designed to promote top export quality craft from a diverse range of disciplines.

Teams of craft experts travelled around the Eastern Cape visiting 19 towns and cities and selecting the best examples of craft currently produced in the province.

The final selection to choose the top three award winners will take place tomorrow and the winners will be announced at the exhibition opening.

The top three crafters will each walk away with prizes to the value of R20 000 and an opportunity to promote their work on a national level. All the items on display are for sale.

The exhibition closes on January 10, 2016. The Athenæum is situated at 7 Belmont Terrace at the corner of Bird Street and Belmont Terrace.
