THE Port Elizabeth Down Syndrome Association (PEDSA) held a Happy Valley Picnic on March 21 in celebration of World Down Syndrome Day.

About 80 children and their families took part in the fun morning at Happy Valley where they were plied with party packs containing sweets, chips and cooldrinks.

They were also treated to short presentations by Carol Massyn from the Cytogenetic Unit at Pathcare and Celeste Texiera-Swiegelaar, a dietician, who discussed the clinical and dietary challenges that can be experienced by children with down syndrome.
