SCORES of youth spent their Saturday afternoon watching the juniors’ friendly matches that were played at Swartkops Valley United Brothers (SUBS) FC in Motherwell NU 6.

According to Seven Sundowns Sports Club’s head coach, Zane Mrwebi, the motive for hosting the friendly matches was to keep the youth off the streets.

“These games help us to identify talent and to keep the youth in sport. The youth who take part in sport hate crime. These young players will be our future football stars,” said Mrwebi.

The clubs that participated in the friendly games were hosts SUBS, Seven Sundowns Sports Club, AC Milan and Seven Stars.

In the u/11 category, Seven Stars thwarted AC Milan 9-1 in a one-sided clash, while in the u/13 category, SUBS played to a 4-4 draw against Seven Sundowns Sports Club.

Aphelele Mzimba and Liyema Potye scored a goal apiece, while Simthandile Booi scored a brace. Soyama Tshuku, Onikithemba Nabo, Lathitha Hobana and Aqhamile “AK 47” Mpendu banged in a goal for Seven Sundowns Sports Club.

Seven Sundowns’ skipper, Inga Scott, was the star of the day.

In the u/15 game, Seven Stars claimed victory by a landslide over AC Milan. Stars’ midfielder, Milani Mrawadi, played an instrumental role for his side towards its 6-3 victory against AC Milan.

Stars’ two braces came courtesy of Milani Mrawadi and Kamva Rhwadi, while Lifa Grootboom and Xhanti Mbilini scored a goal apiece. AC Milan’s goal scorers were Asekhona Bukani, Litha Jikwa and Lithalethu Mfikanye.
