MOTHERWELL school, Ikhwezelihle Primary, welcomed German Sports Minister, Borin Pistorius, recently.

Pistorius briefly appeared with his delegation and sports volunteers, from Lower Saxony in Germany, to see the sporting programmes at Ikhwezelihle Primary School. The visit was organised by the German government, together with Volkswagen.

German sports volunteers took the Ikhwezelihle Primary School learners through coaching clinics and also equipped them with life skills.

The learners displayed their sporting skills, which impressed the visitors immensely.

Pistorius commended the learners of Ikhwezelihle Primary School for showing their high levels of discipline and willingness to learn from his countrymen.

“The reception was very warm here at this school.

“Everybody is very kind and wearing smiles on their faces.

“I am so impressed with what I have seen at this school.

“The learners show keen interest in sport and that made me very happy. The teachers and the learners are enthusiastic.

“We have come to see how the sporting programmes are done at Ikhwezelihle Primary School.

“We are here to help where we can,” said Pistorius, who handed over a present as a token of appreciation to Ikhwezelihle’s headmaster, Vuyani Mazomba.

Mazomba thanked Pistorius and his delegation for coming to his school.

Mazomba stated that he was delighted to welcome Pistorius and his delegation, who encouraged the learners to take sport more seriously.
