THE Groom a Girl Initiative was officially launched on Saturday, August 20, at Erica Place of Safety.

It was a proud moment for The Hope Factory, supporting such a great cause having collected over 500 hygiene products to hand over to the Groom a Girl team, along with Atlas Security, Pantry on Main and VW Market Square in Uitenhage.

“I am inspired by women leaving a legacy, women empowering other women,” said Bernadette Nel-Naude, Sales Manager of Atlas Security.

Nel-Naude was one of the guest speakers at the launch along with Mellisa Welcome, owner of Diamond Revolutions Accounting and IT Services, and Jill Johnson, Senior Executive at The Hope Factory.

The Groom a Girl Initiative is an NPO that helps and empowers girls from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Currently they are partnering with Erica Place of Safety and Inn Safe Hands, collecting second hand clothes, as well as hygiene products for the teenage girls living in both homes.

“All I can say is thank you to everyone who supported us. I am proud of myself and my team,” said Nikita De Souza, founder of the Groom a Girl Initiative.

She also has big dreams for the future of this cause.

“The next step for us is to look into educating these girls, bettering their English and communication skills,” she concluded.
