Guests to dine in dark to raise funds for foundation in aid of blind

THEMED Dare to Dine Differently in the Dark, the night of November 29, will see diners submerged in a dining experience like never before at The Granary.

The event is hosted by the Nkosinathi Foundation and is aimed at raising funds and bringing awareness around the non-profit organisation’s work with blind and partially sighted people.

Plunged into darkness, guests will indulge in a unique dining experience, where guests will embark on a tantalising journey of the senses (all but one), while enjoying a three-course meal and wine pairing.

Briefed to add atmosphere and provide technical expertise, Magnetic Storm will provide lighting to create a strong visual impact upon the guests’ arrival, where colour will be strategically used to light up the walls.

On the challenge a dark event poses, Magnetic Storm creative services head David Limbert said, “The room will be unlit for most of the event to give guests an idea of what it’s like to be blind and rely on their other senses.

“However, when the guests arrive, they will enter a dimmed area where colour will be used to create an atmosphere for what is about to be experienced before they step into darkness,” he said.

The event starts at 6:45pm for 7pm. Tickets can be purchased for R250 through Cashelle McLean on 041 487 1150 or email awareness@nkosinathifoundation.org. Corporate and group bookings are also available.
