THE I Do! Bridal Expo, presented by Africanos, on March 24 and 25, is set to inspire brides-to-be in Nelson Mandela Bay.

In a new collaboration, Nelson Mandela Bay Fashion Week (NMBFW), in partnership with I Do! Bridal Expo, has hand-picked 10 up-and-coming designers to offer the wedding market their fresh take on bridalwear.

The I Do! Bridal Expo and NMBFW is proud to showcase the following exciting brands and their designers:

.Busisiwe Sobopha and her western-inspired brand, Mechero;

.Ati Qina with her traditional/African-inspired brand, Ati Designs;

.Cleo Allison, with CASA, her bridal lingerie, which is inspired by wedding gowns and bridal wear;

.Carlos Fritz and his brand, Carlos Fritz Creations, is inspired by diverse cultures, indigenous plants and our beautiful country;

.Archibald Monyepao, with Monarchy Couture, a brand for the woman who recognises the importance of appearance;

.Mieke Janse van Rensburg and Marelise Snyman, with their brand, simply titled ‘M’, will be showcasing multifunctional bridal wear that can be worn after the wedding;

.Asithandile Zixesha whose brand, Birth Maark, is inspired by the African mermaid shape of women’s structures;

.Mmakabe Makaleng, whose brand, Gabedi Bedi, is inspired by high fashion and couture;

.Amanda Knots with her name brand, Amanda Knots, is inspired by romanticism, and features floral details and hand beading;

.Yamkela Lize, whose brand, Refined Revolt, is a modern interpretation of traditional values.

All 10 emerging designers will be exhibiting their designs within the spacious Tramways/NMBFW display area and showcasing their bridal fashion on the ramp at the 2pm show.

Visitors will also be spoilt with an earlier, midday bridal show, where the Bay’s established designers will showcase their stunning collections, more details to follow.

The I Do! Bridal Expo promises visitors two days of bridal fashion shows, competitions, beautiful exhibitions and the full red-carpet treatment.

Algoa FM’s popular presenters, Daron Mann and Siobhan Momberg, will MC the bridal fashion shows with their sharp wit and lots of entertaining crowd interaction.

Tickets can be bought in advance for R50 per day at Westway Café, Newton Park or at the expo entrance.

Expo door entrance is R60 for adults and R40 for learners or R100 for a full two-day weekend pass. Doors open on Saturday and Sunday from 9am until 5pm.

Each visitor receives a wrist bangle which will allow them to support the Boardwalk Hotel’s programme or the Boardwalk Complex tenants and then return to the expo during the same day.

The Boardwalk Exhibition Centre is, once again, the proud host of the I Do! Bridal Expo, and with a wide variety of exhibitors the bridal expo will be a one-stop collection of all a bride needs to plan the perfect wedding.

The weekend programme will include onstage workshops, live entertainment, a stylish bar lounge area as well as the ever-popular Bridal Café to enjoy sweet and savoury lunch and tea treats.

Brides will also have the chance to enter the amazing I Do! Want to Win a Wedding Competition hosted at the luxurious Africanos Country Estate in Addo, worth more than R250 000!

The competition launches next week. So diarise March 24 and 25, and don’t miss the annual I Do Bridal Expo at the Boardwalk Exhibition Centre in Port Elizabeth!
