Raath said any volunteer who is willing to transport stock between Port Elizabeth and St Francis or help with washing penguins can contact the centre at 042 298 0160.

Kelly, who was also involved in the storage of the stranded Costa Concordia off the coast of the island of Giglio in Italy, said the cleaning process kept his team busy for about eight hours.
