Highland Spurs defeated on soft points after late arrival

2018-03-07 06:00

THE loyal supporters of one of the oldest teams in the SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay SAB Regional League, Highland Spurs, were taken aback when their side lost on soft points to Madibaz Football on Friday.

This follows the late arrival of Highland Spurs to their game against the students, which was scheduled to take place at South Campus Grounds at 18:00.

Since Spurs campaigned in the regional league, the KwaNobuhle side has never previously lost a game on soft points.

In another game, Young Ideas home supporters saw their side go down 2-1 to Motherwell Academy in their nail-biting Motherwell derby that took place at the NU 9 Stadium on Friday evening.

The battle of New Brighton sides between Ikamva Movers and Roaring Tigers ended in a 2-2 draw at Chevrolet Stadium on Friday, while FC Winners snatched a hard-fought away 3-2 victory from Despatch Pioneers at Khayamnandi Stadium on Saturday.

Despite their gallant effort, Major Chiefs succumbed 2-1 to Fairview Rovers in front of their home supporters at Zwide Stadium. Amarhamba United defeated PE Sundowns in their 2-1 victory in their clash that took place at Mqhayi Primary School Grounds.

Morning Stars returned to their winning ways after they overcame Camper United 2-1 at Zwide Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Other SAFA NMB SAB Regional League results:

Roaring Tigers 3-0 Highland Spurs

PE Sundowns 2-3 Major Chiefs

Golden Aces 0-0 Amarhamba United

Camper United 2-3 Young Killers

Fairview Rovers 0-2 Madibaz Football
