) December Ibhayi S unshine Saunter : The route on the Western side of Nelson Mandela Bay is filled with many interesting places suitable for holidaymakers. There are two game farms to visit, horse riding to enjoy, golf, a farmyard ideal for kiddies and ice-skating at Bay West. There are also hiking trails to explore. ) 17 – 23 December Wish Lists: Little ones are called to meet Santa and post their wish lists at The Boardwalk. Children aged three to 12 can have their photographs taken with the man himself at the Craft Workshop between 12:00 and 15:00 and drop off their lists in the Santa Wish List box to stand a chance of winning one of six gift vouchers worth R400 each.

Creative Art Holiday Workshop: Will be presented by the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum for children aged seven to 15 from 09:00 to 12:00. The cost is R30. ) 18 December – 14 January Holiday Club: A kaleidoscope of fun-filled activities await at The Boardwalk where children under the age of 12. Located at the Kids Corner, the club is available daily until January 14, excluding Christmas Day. There will be craft work, games, kiddies’ movies, a jumping castle, face painting, electronic games, racing games and other indoor activities. The cost is R150 per day, or R80 for the four-hour package.

) 19 December Triathlon Summer Series: If thoughts of sprint, super-sprint, triathlon and duathlon get your blood pumping, then this is for you. An aquathlon, which is a swim version of these races, will also be available for those that aren’t able to run. It will take place at Pollok Beach from 08:30. Weekend 5ummer Takeover: National radio station, 5FM, will bring a number of events to the party scene this summer, starting with ‘The Roger Goode Show’ at Savages Fine Food in Central for breakfast from 06:00 to 09:00. The ‘Thabooty Drive’ will then broadcast live from The White Tiger in Humewood from 15:00 to 18:00. Kyle Cassim will find himself at Black Impala for ‘Cassim’s Kitchen’ from 19:00.

) 20 December Weekend 5ummer Takeover: 5FM’s line-up continues with ‘The Roger Goode Show’ at Bocadillos restaurant and bakery in 6th Avenue, Walmer, from 06:00 to 09:00, while ‘The Thabooty Drive’ holds court at Tsogo Sun’s Garden Court, Kings Beach Hotel, from 15:00 to 18:00. The Beer Shack in Marine Drive will then host ‘The Weekender5’, where craft beer and good food will meet good vibes courtesy of 5FM DJs at 20:00.

Boot Sale: Will be hosted by the Knights of Da Gama at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Grounds in Cape Road, Kabega Park. Weekend 5ummer Takeover: 5FM’s weekend event will continue when Msizi James broadcasts live from Blue Waters Café on the beach in Summerstrand for the 5FM Top 40 charts and selective styles from 10:00 to 14:00.

One Africa Jazz: Forms part of the One Africa Festival and will take place at the Boardwalk ICC at 19:00. The show will be hosted by the veteran, Bra Stan Mosea. The line-up is an all-star internationally acclaimed talent that includes jazz veterans like Feya Faku, McCoy Mrubata, Andile Yenana, and Asanda Mqiki. One Africa Indigenous Food Festival: Will take place at the Boardwalk Festival Lawns from 11:00 to 17:00. Entry is free. There will be over 20 diverse and indigenous food stalls from vendors that are exclusively based in the Eastern Cape. The festival is a family lifestyle event that is organised picnic style where music meets food. There will also be a safe play area for kids.

) 27 – 29 December Ebubeleni Festival: The eighth edition of the popular lifestyle festival will feature award-winning, top of the charts acts. The Urban music leg will kick things off on December 27 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium with a trinity of hot music genres of hip-hop, gqom and amapiano. Laughter will be added with a comedy night at the Boardwalk ICC on December 28. The line-up includes Ntosh Madlingozi, Siya Seya, Trevor Gumbi and Khanyisa Bunu. Enraptured and fired-up performances will then be at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on December 29 at the Main Event. On stage will be Zonke, Vusi Nova, Ami Faku, Tsepo Tshola, DJ Tira, Simmy, Zer012 Finest and many more. Tickets are available at Computicket.

Algoa FM presenter, Roland Gaspar, will be entertaining the crowd and creating a vibe.
