Irish dancers shine in competition

SIX dancers from The McWilliams Academy of Dance in Port Elizabeth excelled in the Claddagh Irish Dancing competition which took place in Cape Town on August 12.

Courtney Pearce came first in the senior championships for dancers aged 17 and older.

Jenna Hayes came in joint first place of the 14-16 years championships and Isabella Scott placed first in the pre-championships level 1.

Kate Unwin came first in the pre-championships level 2, while Josie Opperman and Nicole Wright both won the award for most promising junior dancer.

The studio won a total of 17 gold medals and 15 silver medals at the competition.
