THE PE Express First Choice Kids and Baby Expo is back and will be held in the upcoming school holidays.The expo will take place at the Boardwalk’s Exhibition Level on Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30 from 9am to 6pm, as well as Sunday, October 1 from 9am to 7pm.Celebrating its eighth year, the expo will provide indoor educational and entertainment for the whole family as well as a new Parenting 911 workshop for busy moms and toddler care professionals. As headline sponsor to the event, First Choice places special focus on the health and wellness of families with germ-free dairy products produced in the heart of the Eastern Cape at Woodlands Dairy from predominantly pasture-fed cow’s milk ensuring that it is safe for the whole household. Kids will take centre stage again this year as budding little chefs will once again have the opportunity to put their smoothie-making skills to the test for the First Choice Smoothie competition. Contestants will be selected from the audience each day to make their smoothies to be judged by the Boardwalk’s chefs and winners stand to win amazing prizes.The first 500 visitors will receive a free Milki and kids can meet the mascot, Milki Moo.The Kids and Baby Expo will offer the same jam-packed weekend of fun that kids have got to know, love and look forward to at each year’s event, from pedal go-carts, action cricket, kicking nets, bike park to face painting, sand art and the popular soft play area for toddlers. Fun is certainly centred around the kids, but parents can also look out for special offers, as well as exhibitor competitions and product sampling opportunities, where all the comfort and convenience is under one roof.This year sees the launch of a brand-new initiative which will also be held at the Boardwalk and will dovetail with the second day of the expo. Aimed at parents, au pairs, nannies, and pre-school teachers, working with children under the age of three, the Parenting 911 workshop will be held at the Boardwalk Conference Centre on Saturday, September 30 from 9am to 12.30pm.The Parenting 911 workshop, presented by ecBF, Early Childhood Business Forum, will cover the following topics presented by field experts: Musickin through mothering – influence of music on learning and mothering, de-stressing parent and child, sensory behaviour, and discipline with love. Parents will be able to grab a bite or browse to their hearts content as there will be ample activities to keep the kids busy. The expo will be held in the expansive Boardwalk Exhibition Level, which offers a safe, secure and weather-proof environment, while including a comfortable baby-changing area and private feeding area for new moms. Entrance will be R40 for adults and R25 for kids but once inside all kids entertainment is free.
