ON March 17-20, Kings Beach Surf Lifesaving Club (SLC) will be hosting the 2016 Lifesaving South Africa Surf Nationals.

This is the most prestigious event on the Lifesaving South Africa calendar as it draws top lifesaving clubs from across South Africa to compete in the Masters, Interprovincial and/or Senior/Junior Division.

Lifesaving South Africa is the official governing body of the voluntary lifesaving movement in South Africa of which all the competing lifesaving clubs are affiliated to.

On March 17 the National Masters Surf Lifesaving Championships will start at 8am at Kings Beach. This is for the age competitors 30 years plus. The event should conclude by midday.

The National Surf Interprovincial Championships follows the Masters event starting at 2pm, Kings Beach.

On March 18 at 8am the Senior and Junior age categories will commence.

Last year it was Kings Beach’s junior team that placed the Eastern Province clubs on the score cards by coming second.

For the senior teams it was East London and Sardinia Bay SLC who placed the Eastern Province clubs on the score cards by coming ninth and tenth respectively.
