THE legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo will perform at the PE Opera House in a two-day special event on October 21 and 22.

For local fans, the famous group will be at the Greenacres Shopping Centre Food Court on Saturday, October 15, between 11.30am and 1.30pm to sign autographs.

Founded in 1964 by Joseph Shabalala, the most famous African a capella vocal group has to date won more Grammy awards than any other person or group from the continent of Africa.

Winning three Grammys and 15 nominations is testimony to the journey they have travelled from the successful spell with Paul Simons with the Graceland Tour in the 1980s to a string of collaborations with a list of world-renowned artists such as Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton, Sarah McLachlan and Josh Groban.

The curtain-raiser for Ladysmith Black Mambazo will be the award-winning Eastern Sounds Chorale, formerly known as the Transnet Port Choir, conducted by Dr Makhaya Mjana and Legato. The show starts at 7pm.

Admission is R150 per individual and R200 per couple.
