THE wait is over, as the Medihelp Train Race takes place from the Port Elizabeth station this Sunday. The race will kick off at 9am and is open to six-person relay teams.More than 150 corporate and social clubs and schools teams comprising of five runners and one mountain bike cyclist are getting ready for the ultimate man versus machine relay race. The route takes runners along Swartkops Road past Sydenham Station through Deal Party and into Swartkops before the 10km MTB leg through Redhouse to Perseverance Station. The final two legs will see the runners going through Azalia Park, Despatch and onto Uitenhage Station where the winning teams and train are expected around 10:50am. Prize-giving will take place at 1pm on the Coca-Cola stage in the festival area outside the station.No late entries will be accepted after 5pm today and all teams are to send a representative to collect their race packs from the Love Story offices in Albany Road tomorrow between 11am and 3pm.Organisers are also requesting all teams to donate non-perishable food items to Love Story, which can be brought with tomorrow. More than 700 passenger train tickets for Sunday have been sold. Registration can be done online at www.trainrace.co.za.
