NOMINATIONS of charities to benefit from the Sovereign Foods and PE Express’s ‘70 Festive Tables of Hope initiative’ have been pouring in from across the metro. Tomorrow (November 22) is the last day for readers to nominate their preferred charity.

The ‘70 Festive Tables of Hope’ initiative is set to provide festive season meals to vulnerable individuals cared for or supported by registered charities and welfare organisations in the metro over December.

Seventy charity organisations and NPOs are set to benefit from the community meal provision initiative that will be jointly undertaken by Sovereign Foods and the PE Express over the 2018 festive season.

Readers of PE Express and Sovereign Foods employees are invited to nominate registered NPOs for selection to participate in the initiative.

The nominated beneficiaries must be from around the NMBM, particularly the Uitenhage and PE areas.

The NPO categories caring and/

or supporting vulnerable communities may include but are not limited to:

  • Early childhood development centres (crèches or day care centres)
  • Frail care/caring for the elderly
  • Orphanages
  • Abandoned children centres
  • Child protection
  • People with physical or mental disabilities
  • Survivors or victims of violence
  • Hospices or care centres for terminally ill.

Thuto Maepa, Sovereign Foods Group Executive HR and chair of the company’s CSI committee said: “Through this festive season initiative we will be putting warm meals on the tables of people living on the margins of society and those most vulnerable.

“We are very aware of the hardships faced by our communities at this time of year and therefore encourage community members to nominate organisations that they believe could benefit from the ‘70 Festive Tables of Hope’ initiative.”

Tasmia Ismail, General Manager: EP Media and Die Burger Oos-Kaap, said, “In just a week we have had an overwhelming response of nominations for this initiative.

“Thank you. In the spirit of hope and giving we look forward to serving local communities through our 70 Festive Tables of Hope.”

Send your charity’s name, NPO number, name and contact details of the organisation’s head to express.web@media24.com or comment on this post on our Facebook page. Only registered NGOs with a valid and current NPO number will be considered. – REPORTER
