GOSPEL artists from the Eastern Cape returned with four awards from the SABC’s eighth annual Crown Gospel Awards which were held with much fanfare recently.

Dumi Mkokstad was awarded for the gospel song of the year for Safa Naye, while Lusanda Mcinga was named the best female artist.

Butho Vuthela was awarded for Ungasishiyi Thixo as the best traditional gospel.

The event was attended by Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture MEC Pemmy Majodina, who celebrated with the winners.

“These artists continue without fail to represent the ‘Home of legends’ with flying colours.

“Their discipline and dedication to their craft are commendable, and we are happy with this outstanding achievement”, said the elated MEC.

One more award belonged to Pastor Andre Robert, who won the inaugural SALT award.
