SHE went from being the only finalist from the Eastern Cape in the competition to becoming a Top 40 finalist, and, last year in December, Noni Mbete’s hard work finally paid off when she was graced with a Mrs Africa international title after being crowned Mrs Africa World 2017.

Mbete (27), who lives in Walmer, Port Elizabeth, with her husband, Zukile Mbete, and their two children, Mbali and Amile, is a versatile business woman who runs her own company called MbaMile Holdings and is a self-proclaimed humanitarian.

MbaMile Holdings is an outdoor media business and was named after Mbete’s daughters.

The humanitarian aspect made her a perfect candidate for the Mrs Africa competition as it required them to work closely with charities, safe havens and other similar organizations.

“I plan to continue with my humanitarian work. I have my own foundation called Resolute Women Campaign where I supply matric dance dresses to underprivileged young girls. I plan to add motivational talks with the girls as I’ve noticed the need for this in some of our communities in Port Elizabeth,” Mbete said.

She plans to expand Resolute Women to a national level.

“I will also continue working closely with Yokhuselo Haven, a safe haven for women suffering from domestic violence, and The Tamsanqa project, a children’s home in Motherwell that’s close to my heart,” she continued.

Mbete became an inspiration to women everywhere, especially young mothers and married women, when she made the Top 10 and was crowned Mrs Africa World 2017 at a ceremony that took place at The Protea Hotel in OR Tambo on December 16, 2016.

“I carry this title with so much joy, knowing I’ve made the Eastern Cape proud. I will continue doing my absolute best as I prepare for the Mrs Worldwide International competition in Singapore in August.”

Mbete also received the Best Interview Award and the Best National Costume Award during the course of the Mrs Africa Pageant.

As part of her new title, she will be flown to international destinations to represent the African continent.
