THE Nelson Mandela Bay Metro Police Service conducted joint operations and roadblocks with the SAPS during the past week from Friday to Sunday.

During a roadblock held on Friday 55 notices were issued and four vehicles discontinued. On the same day a joint operation with Mount Road SAPS in North End saw 23 notices issued.

On Saturday the Metro Police were at KwaDwesi Mall, Kenako Mall and the CBD where 103 notices were issued and 95 counterfeit CDs were confiscated.

“The Metro Police also attended a prayer awareness campaign in Bethelsdorp, led by Pastor James Tamboer, on Saturday,” said Metro Police Chief Yolande Faro.

“We also conducted joint operations with the Uitenhage Cluster and Walmer SAPS from 8pm to 6am and issued eight notices.

“On Sunday we conducted enforcement in KwaNobuhle, Nooitgedacht, Seaview and Uitenhage CBD from 6am to 2pm and 46 notices were issued.”

According to Faro, the cases and arrests by metro police officers over the weekend total 313 notices issued with a monetary value of R183 750.
