MOTHERWELL Rollers made the region proud when they claimed a number of medals at the South Africa Rollerskating National Championships at the Arnold Sports Festival Africa 2019 in Sandton City in May.

According to Motherwell Rollers chairperson, Marianne Terblanche, the team produced an outstanding performance in the national championships. Terblanche stated that their show group consisted of six skaters under the programme called “Never Give Up” and they skated very well, achieving third place, with each member receiving a bronze medal.

“Odwa Ngetu won a bronze medal in the open dance, where he had to skate two sets of dance and had to perform a difficult style of dance. Xabiso Nzenze received a silver medal in the over-16 men’s dance category, while Lucy Doto came fourth in the u/16 girls. Others skated well in their dance sections but they were not placed.”

Terblanche further stated that their team’s success was attributed to dedication, determination and discipline.

Xabiso Nzenze: Silver and bronze medals in speed skating in over-16 men’s category

Iviwe Maneli: Bronze medal in speed skating in Junior Men category

Musa Willie: Bronze medal for speed in junior men category
