THE German Club Port Elizabeth are proud to announce that they were recently nominated by National Geographic as the 10th most popular Oktoberfest outside Germany. The 2018 Oktoberfest will be the third year that there will be three special Oktoberfest craft beers on tap brewed specially for Oktoberfest by South African Breweries. The programme for Oktoberfest is as follows: Friday, October 26:Friday is dress-up night. Gate opens at 18:00. Come dressed up and get a free beer voucher at the entrance.Saturday, October 27:From 12:00 they will be hosting their seniors’ lunch at Oktoberfest as a treat to the older generation. For R50 you get entry to listen to the Harthauser Musi Oompah band, and you get a light meal which consists of German sausage with mash and sauerkraut and a glass of juice.Gates open at 18:00 and they start shortly after that with the Miss Oktoberfest pageant. Tickets may be pre-purchased through Computicket for R100 or at the gate on the night and are R120 per night. No under 18s on these nights.Gates open at 18:00 and close at 23:00 Friday night and 15:00 and 23:00 on Saturday night. Please note that there are no pass outs.There will be food stalls in the courtyard with the famous ludwigsburger, cheesegrillers, chicken kebabs, deboned kassler and other eats for sale. Sunday, October 25: FrühschoppenSunday is family day and bookings are essential as they only cater for up to 1000 people. Entrance fee is R80 for non-members and kids under 16 enter free. Lunch is served from 12:30 until 14:30. with a choice of four different meals. Draught beer and schnapps will be available. There will be a kiddies’ corner with a jumping castle and trained staff to look after the kids.
