ALL the noise coming from his room that his family had to put up with finally paid off when Luke Goliath (22) received a platinum award for his contribution to the hit song, Suited, by singing sensation Shekhinah.

The young music producer from Parkridge in Port Elizabeth received the award for his work on the song which has been dominating national airwaves recently. Suited is a single from Shekhinah’s debut album, RoseGold and was a combined effort from producers Goliath and Themba Sekowe (DJ Maphorisa) and Shekhinah, who wrote the lyrics.

The album was released in October last year and it was announced that Suited was certified gold and platinum last month.

“It’s unbelievable that the beat I worked on two years ago in my bedroom became such a hit. When I hear the song play on the radio I still can’t believe it.”

Goliath initially approached local Idols SA contestant Loyiso Gijana with the beat, who in turn thought the sound would suit Shekhinah, also a former Idols SA contestant, better.

“Loyiso put me in contact with Shekhinah and she immediately fell in love with the beat.

“She added the lyrics and DJ Maphorisa put his flavour to it.”

The result is a song that went gold and platinum.

Goliath is a self-taught producer. “I learnt everything I know about producing from watching YouTube videos and I do everything on my MacBook.

“Technology has enabled us to do things that were unattainable before. It has brought the world closer, so, we no longer have to move to big cities to achieve success.”

Apart from producing beats, Goliath is also a seasoned lead guitarist, club disc jockey (DJ) and graphic artist.

He would like to be a full-time music producer and some of the big names he would love to work with include Black Coffee and Goldfish.

He has “a few big projects” in the pipeline which will be revealed soon and also plans on launching his own Vevo channel shortly.

Goliath and Gijana currently have a single out, titled Memories, which is available on iTunes.
