EDUPLANET is launching a unique, independent school in July. The school will be registered with the Eastern Cape Department of Education and will occupy the Eveready offices at 1 Eveready Road, Struandale (next to Continental Tyres).

Charl Meyer, the director of the school, had a proven track record in private schools since 1991, when he launched Meridian College in Pretoria (currently owned by Curro) and subsequently other schools throughout the northern provinces.

After an extensive search throughout the urban areas of PE, this building was selected because of its layout, location and 24/7 manned security and access control.

According to Meyer, the school will aspire to instil strong moral values based on Christian principles, combined with clear, healthy discipline.

“The dire situation in some of the local schools created the need for normalised, high-quality education, which we provide,” said Meyer.

“At EduPlanet we employ dedicated, well-trained and experienced staff to help learners get to an acceptable level and then maximise their potential. The classes will be limited in size, ensuring individual attention,” said Meyer.

According to Meyer, a very high premium is placed on English in spoken and written form. “We want our learners to be confident and competitive and able to excel in life beyond EduPlanet. Parents are encouraged to get involved in their child’s progress by regular and constant communication with the teachers,” he said.

A high academic standard can only be achieved and maintained by constant evaluation and progress. Extra classes will be available for students in all subjects where needed, especially in problematic subjects like mathematics. The 18-month matric project will also be launched in July for learners who failed matric or want to improve their results.
